[EAS] Ashanti Alert??

A couple of years ago there was a big push in the Nebraska Unicameral
for Silver alerts. A hearing was held and not one person testifying
wanted these alerts tied to EAS, myself included. Instead Nebraska came
up with the Endangered Missing Alert (EMA), that is an e-mail push
alert, administered by the Nebraska State Patrol, to those signed up for
it. All of the media immediately signed up as well as a few of us in the
alerting and EM fields, but it is open to anyone.

We saw the coming proliferation of Color and/or Name alerts and decided
to get ahead of the game with a catch-all system to get the information
out without clogging up the short fuse event EAS system. At this time we
do not see Nebraska using Ashanti or any other new voluntary alerts that
might come down the pike.
