I agree with Rod on this. (Yes sometimes the planets all do align and there is order in the Universe) :-)
I too have never had it be an issue during an ABIP inspection to attach the EAS printout to "the log", however you may define the "Log."
I think the safe bet is in signing and dating the EAS printout. This, at the very least, says you actually laid eyes on it, as in you reviewed it as required. And as long as you are addressing any missed, required alerts, who's to say how thoroughly you "reviewed" it otherwise?
You want to cut the paperwork to a minimum and still be legal? That's my 0.02 worth.
