Currently Nebraska requirements are to monitor the State FM radio network for SP/SR for source one and NWS for source two.
The state plan, as informally amended, also suggests monitoring a state designated LP1.
So with the FEMA monitoring assignment, we have three required and one additional suggested.
Being a State Relay station I monitor all four.
I assume that the PEP is already injected into the state primary/relay system at some point.
But there is currently no statewide requirement to monitor the PEP directly.
However, doing just that is at the heart of the proposal so that the state plan can be approved.
As presented at our state broadcasters convention last week by a member of the SECC, we will all need to go out and buy an AM radio to to monitor the PEP.
Distance between the PEP transmitter and our studio is 185 miles.
I just finished a 4-1/2 year ordeal with our University to place a 3 ft dish on top of one of the buildings on campus because the 400 ft TV tower that we used for an STL site was taken down for aesthetic reasons. Putting up an antenna for 880 KHz is out of the question. During EBS days, we had a 50KW AM station for a monitoring assignment just a few miles away, and it sounded like do-do.
If this has to happen, well be getting the PEP via there web stream.
