[EAS] How are you planning to broadcast the September 28 National EAS Test?

What kind of preparation would a broadcaster need for the NPT test? In my mind, this is sort of like an RMT on steroids. So long as your equipment is operational and properly configured...
I had gotten several questions from TV broadcasters is about whether a background display was needed, like in the 2011 EAN test. This had never been discussed for the NPT, but of course the NPT crawl inherently says that the message is a test. Even if all that is monitored is the broadcast EAS version, the header will output " ... has issued a National Periodic Test for the following areas: the United States ..."
Mind the operational state of your EAS and related equipment. Double check the configuration. Double check if you're EAS manufacturer has posted any additional information, guidance, or software updates. And have a happy National Preparedness Month.

Do not assume it will occur exactly at 2:20pm (Eastern Time). It could
occur a few minutes early or late or not at all.

Generally, you should make no programming changes. Allow the EAS
equipment to interrupt programming when it needs to.

Do not leave a gap in your program schedule. If you do, you might end up
with "dead air" if the NPT doesn't happen at exactly the time you expect.
