Thanks for the info Harold. I was wondering if/how it'd work on the blue box. Now i have an answer. Our testing here was started by Don, who, being a TV guy, uses the DASDEC equipment regularly, while us here in radio are perfectly happy with the Sage units.
It seems that the multilingual options are going to end up being very useful, however getting all the lexicon options available to the end user is going to be a little bit of a challenge. Then again, you have to draw the line somewhere. I've had requests to do ad translation into Farsi, Hmong, Somali, Thai, Mexican (not spanish), Spanish (proper Spain Spanish, yes there's a difference), etc. And that's here in the upper midwest! While obviously supporting an entire lexicon in Farsi is probably not going to happen, the Somali population has grown (like Hmong) here in Minnesota where those are languages that are a must for us. Spanish is obviously second to standard American English, but it does no good for me here, i have 30,000 Somali refugees living in the 20sq mi area, many don't speak english... see the problem? An entire city of people, completely unserved by this system.
I have to imagine that I'm not the only one in this situation.
