Mike, I hear what you are saying ...However we need to understand that a lot
of these new pint-sized radio stations are operating on a shoestring and
comparing them to a larger commercial operation is a bit un-fair. Then
again, there are plenty of major stations that frequently get nailed by the
Commish for violation of this or that rule? It would be helpful if the
FCC had a rules and regs service that provided every licensee with all the
information they need to stay out of trouble coupled with a clear
understanding that if there is a violation, they will be held accountable.
On line Public Files and ETRS are new systems that may well overwhelm some
of these small operations for many reasons. The nature of these creations
is that they have the ability to 'inform' the regulators when a licensee
(for whatever reason) has been naughty.
My big beef is with those larger commercial operations that have the
resources to stay abreast of all the regs and then, willingly, choose to
march to a different drummer.
