Cool.
The other issue is that no radio station in Santa Cruz or Monterey
County wants to participate. I was asked by the Santa Cruz Sheriff
after the Japan earthquake and tsunami that hit Santa Cruz harbor how
he could activate EAS. And I had to tell him that there was no EAS
in his county. The State of CA state-wide system (CLERS) was
disconnected by state OES because they did not want to pay state
telecom for the microwave backhaul.
We're looking at (and hoping for) a very wet winter. This invariably
causes major land slides in Santa Cruz County. The county OES
department is one guy. It's not gonna be pretty.
And you wonder why I'm sometimes really discouraged . . .
