dialog on improving and simplifying functionality of the boxes for the end users. I'm a bit surprised it hasn't been mentioned before.

In a perfect world all reasonable requests that users make would appear in the next maintenance release of software.
My two favorite requests are to be able to initiate an RMT from the web interface. Programming staff have a hard time dealing with the front panel pushbuttons or the hand controller. RWT's are no problem for them, because it's only one mouse click. My other favorite request would be to write an internal log entry (or send me an e-mail) whenever a programming person aborts a pending SVR. Some EAS messages don't make it to air, and as the responsible person, I want to know why. My comments are made with respect to the particular EAS device we have purchased. Yours might act differently.
We as users don't know what constraints the manufacturers are under. There are probably bigger fish to fry (message authentication anyone?) than these operational requests.
