I run circa 150 boxes, each using a single GMAIL account as a point of access.
That being said:
You must make certain that all routers to the outside world are open for the
following ports or you will have problems with email/CAP/network connectivity,
etc:
PORT STATE SERVICE
22/tcp open ssh
80/tcp open http
443/tcp open https
587/tcp open smtp
631/tcp open ipp
8000/tcp open
Good luck getting your IT department to cooperate in opening all these
ports...... they work with a conflict of interest (1) make sure everything
connected works with the outside world, 2) make sure nothing from the outside
world can get in).
at bare minimum, ports 80,443, and 587 must be functional. It may or may not
work without the others, but I don't suggest trying it, lest something not work
that you would otherwise want to.
