[EAS] Interesting

Had a complaint that the NWS weather warnings were not
relayed by the system. Both times it happened we were live,
DJ just read the NWS info from the EAS printer & weather
channel's updates (we have a flat screen in the control
room).

This is a Gorman Redlich, recent model ('09), instead of
audio running through it use a Broadcast Tools switcher
controlled by the send alert and EOM relays on the G~R.

We had a front sweep through last Wednesday. Severe
thunderstorm warnings issued, EAS received, but not relayed.
The printout of the EAS set-up indicates that an "SVR" or
severe thunderstorm warning should be sent immediately. Just
tested the system by sending an RWT, program line seized &
alert audio transmitted as expected.

Printout from that afternoon was interesting: there is a
notation on the end of a series of severe thunderstorm
warnings to the effect that the "MSG not stored - WXR
ignored."

WXR I gather is a new CAP code (for NWS)...confusing the GR
EAS??

(Can't find the full series of alerts--these are timed from
about the time the storm hit & killed power at the
transmitter site. Kind of academic at that point, anyway.)
