IP is certainly not the best answer, however, stop and think how many times
we are forced to compromise when it comes to the use of tools? When
you don't have a hammer to drive a nail, but you have a pair of linemans
pliers
those pliers become the BEST answer.
1- The Internet is a tool, with considerable redundancy.
2- The Daisy Chain (Broadcast to station to station relay) is like all
chains....Offering no redundancy....Just like any chain, only as strong as
it's
weakest link.
3- The great advantage of the Internet is that it's there!
A - How many states do not have a State Relay Network for the distribution
of state-source EAS messages?
B - How many local areas don't have Local Relay Networks for the
distribution
of local-source messages?
C - Compare A and B to the number of areas, EOC's and Broadcast Stations
that don't have Internet capability.
Bottom line - A lot of things are relative - where we must ask the
question -
Compared to what?-. It's easy to condem something without providing
rational and affordable alternatives.
