For audio & control there is nothing wrong with a 66B block. I've 
probably made over 100K punches on 66B's and to date I've had less than 
20 pad punches. Usually it was due to the punch operator, or using wire 
with too thick of insulation.

Using a 66B-3-50 allows for a great deal of versatility at the block 
should you need it. Attenuators or terminations can easily be placed in 
the circuit, mono sources can be bridged to feed both channels, and the 
list goes on. That doesn't even include the ease of access to the 
circuit for testing & troubleshooting.

Sure, there are newer and fancier blocks out there but there's nothing 
wrong or bad about the 66B doing audio.
