[BC] WestwoodOne changing to Wegener receivers

I would imagine this is about control and monitoring. I think the Wegeners
are on a more locked-down system for program authorization, and with the
Wegeners, "CumulusOne" won't have to send out separate equipment for OTA
monitoring. Of course, as already pointed out here, OTA monitoring is not
gonna happen in many instances. My receivers are at a transmitter site and
backhauled. That site is too far from the 1 kW AM that they're gonna want
to hear.
I also hate to be limited to two ports (that I have to ask a NOC pretty
please to set). In a busy sports season, we've used three ports at once on
our Maxx. Changing channels on the fly is gonna be a lost capability.
More and more the networks are asserting more control over these systems and
making it difficult for the end user to use their product(s) or have any
flexibility. We used to use multiple ports on our ESPN receiver to be able
to switch to different programming on the fly. Then they unilaterally
decided that each station (aka set of call letters) can only have one port.
Wouldn't be bad, except when their special events programming goes awry or
they change a program name and suddenly your base schedule has a big empty
(and silent) hole in it.
