Wrong !!   In our church the liturgists in fact go through some very
simple but apparently effective training and that does in fact include
microphone technique.  There is a lot more to it than just the mike
but speaking technique is quite definitely part of the 'class.' And
coming early to practice is part of it.   I call it  'doing my homework.'

About ten percent of our congregation have gone through this bit
of training and most  ( now )  do quite nicely.   I will admit that those
in the congregation that are at least mid-level management types,
used to speaking to groups, do the best.

Our problem is different:  inattentive board ops who fail to punch
on a mike, or who otherwise are slow on the draw.
