I was thinking of a 'brute force filter' I built from my 1960 ARRL handbook consisting of winding enameled wire around two 1/2" dowels with caps on both ends -- worked great for my Halicrafters SX-99 to eliminate the fish-tank heater arc and oil burner motor grunge.  Long, long ago, and far, far away, circa 1962.
