I fully get that...and have for some time. There is a point where the 
costs to replace outweigh repair. I often will buy more than one of 
something if I know life cycle is short and/or cost to replace with a 
different product is higher than the cost of a 2nd (or more) spare 
unit(s).  Blower motors are a good example as are managed IP switches.

With Berhinger and others like them (there are many), they will often 
simply send back a "refurbished" unit than repair something not worth 
fixing or where the repairs are best done in bulk at a remote depot 
(IOW...overseas) and then returned for redistribution as B-stock or 
refurb/surplus.  Whether the returned unit is really a refurb or new 
product not prior circulated for sale is irrelevant.  It just needs to 
be in the same or better condition than the failed device.
