>Yeah, that's bogus, as is the pop-up. Microsoft is not going to phone you and they're not going to offer to fix things for a price. The easiest giveaway that something is bogus is the improper English they use in their pop-ups.

OK, I just got another phone call from "Microsoft" saying they got an error message telling them that my computer is infected. This time I was ready for them. I looked up my IP address and asked them to make sure it was my computer by telling me what my IP address was. They hung up.

I will try ComboFix when I have a chance. Thanks for the info.

When I boot up the computer, I get error code 0x80070002. That apparently means MSE is not working. I have tried to remove it through Control Panel but it won't go away. And if I try to re-install it says I have to remove the earlier install. Catch-22. I have instructions to manually uninstall MSE but that will have to wait until later as I have a teleseminar to attend shortly.

In the meantime I an running a trial version of Immunet 3.0 to provide some anti-malware protection. I also have CCleaner and Glarysoft Registry Repair. I used to use SystemSuite 10 and 11, and liked those, but could never get 12 to run on my computer. And when I loaded it on my wife's laptop it would work, but then she couldn't access the internet for some reason. So I dumped that and loaded AVG Free on hers.

Does anybody know anything about Speedy PC Pro?

Thanks for all your help.
