I consulted recently on a directional FM where the antenna consisted of two stacked yagis, tilted 17.5 degrees off vertical to produce (theoretically) 150 watts horizontal along with 1.5kw vertical. As I said, there are lots of exceptions to the rule, but I was asking if anyone knew of any translators which were able to run all or mostly vertical, without jumping through a lot of hoops, as LPFM's are allowed to do. I don't have the time at the moment to dig through the rules, just wondering if someone had an answer off the top of their head.

Usually the horizontal is what pulls in the vert for the legal channel 6 protection. Every vert non-com I have installed has alwas had at least 1 watt horizontal even though there is no horizontal Element in the approve antenna.
