This is a good exciter, and can be retuned for about $500.  However, it 
probably needs some new caps by now, so $800 would be a better figure to 
completely rebuild it.  It could be used for LPFM, I believe, if you got 
a harmonic filter and made some measurements to verify that it met the 
standards--but I'm not a lawyer, so you should confirm that elsewhere.  
However, by the time you got all that work done, you probably will have 
spent most of the price of a modern unit, which would have much better 
audio specs, decent built-in stereo generator and audio processor, and 
other goodies.

The 310Z-1B and Z-2 are both modern PLL units.  The original 310Z-1 was 
not and should be avoided at all costs.
