Some people seem to think Google Earth images are close to real-time.
Maybe they watch too much TV and movies.

I recall that recently at the government inquiry here into our bad 
bushfires last February (Victoria, Australia) some responsible authority 
indicated they had been blind-sided regarding assessing fuel loads 
because they were using Google Earth and didn't realise that the images 
were two years out of date.
