The typical PA Voltage/Current in the old days was
for a single PA device (tube or tubes). It was easily
measured. Modern transmitters have multiple PA's
in parallel so measuring them individually is not
convenient. In the Harris SX the PA Volts/Amps
are an average. Conventional metering on the front
panel does provide some useful information such
as Volts/Amps ratio and one can calculate approximate
PA efficiency but it is not really necessary.
The bottom line is that the output power is the main
concern.
