Well, I am glad to hear that they didn't stick in you!  The good thing is, the centrifugal force makes the pieces go parallel to the rack panels.  I know, because something similar happened to me once.  And of course, trying to stop the feed reel with your fingers after rewinding could result in a nasty burn!
