[BC] FM in Cell Phones

Perhaps you are aware that of communication between the FCC Chairman and Congress and Administration officials seeking to garner support to require FM radios in cell phones.

Part of this is in response to the 28-month period announced by the FCC in December where mobile phone companies must come up with something called the Commercial Mobile Service Alert System (CMAS). Something over 60 letters were sent to politicians who have been lobbied to get FM included.

The idea is to make it easier to disseminate EAS messages.

... that is, assuming the FM stations are going to be broadcasting information.  That is ... assuming the FM stations get the information.  That is .. assuming anyone is home at the FM stations to get the information and broadcast it.
