There's always something we don't like. I'm no exception. However I
would suggest that "engineers" learn a little about what affects
ratings. I'm always thrilled when "engineers" get involved in
programming. It's usually personal preference rather than an
understanding of how to accomplish audience recycling. Personal
preferences are like anal vents. We all have them.

Go back and study Paul Harvey, Walter Cronkite and many of the
newsmen and commentators of the "Golden Days" of radio. The really
good ones had very distinctive styles. Would you speak to someone in
person as Walter Winchell did on radio? Someone must have liked them.

I don't like anything that telegraphs that a commercial break is
coming up. I don't like radio or TV people referring to
listeners/viewers as everybody. After all the training to speak to
single individuals they continue to separate themselves from those
individuals.

The first thing you learn in programming is that you can't please
everyone. The second thing you learn is that everyone is an expert.
