I disagree, greasing guy wires shortens their life, the best treatment is called "prelub 19."
It should be installed under pressure preferably with a "prelub" applicator.
The prelub 19 will penetrate to the center and prevent the migration of water into the core.

Tall towers with greased guy wires clearly have water running out of the ends after rain storms
and early some mornings while the outside of the cables are dry, prelub 19 coated wires do not hold
the water.
I can not wet a prelubed cable with a bucket of water 3 years after the coating.
Prelub 19 should be re-applied every 5 to 10 years. You can buy bridge strand prelub 19ed at the
factory and then it does not need to be refreshed, plus the cable is guaranteed for life from
rusting. prelub 19 is linseed oil based and ecology a plus, as it is biodegradable.
   See: http://www.grignard.com/wire_rope.htm I'm just a user of prelub 19 and HV 19.
