[BC] dueling algorithms and audio quality

The real problem is simply laziness. The klutzes at the record
labels just don't care. I have spoken to a few artists in the last few
years, and they perk right up when you explain how many record companies
dumb down the quality. Many times they state that their I-Pod sounds
great. I say, "Ever watch the movie Multiplicity?" That usually works.
A simple explanation of a copy of a copy works pretty well. If I had
Bill Gates money, I would take out a full page ad in some of the trades
and talk right to the artists.

When WCSG first rejected the non-Flac compressed audio cuts, we took
a lot of calls from the record companies. They didn't get it. Then the
GM started getting calls from the artists. He called me into his office,
and in 3 minutes I was always able to convince the artists. They usually
understand the technology. They were the ones that went back to the
record labels and told them to fix it.
And yes, I do feel good about helping to fix it.
