You could simply look at the dish on a sunny day when the sun outage
happens.  The shadows on the dish will tell the story.  For the satellite
that ABC uses sun outage happens late afternoon some days in March and
October.  With a 3.8 meter dish a small amount of shadowing won't hurt
reception.
