Margaret reminisced:

    I had the opposite happen.  During the initial adjustment 
of a new station, all of a sudden one day one of our marks 
disappeared.  I was walking back and forth looking for it 
when a police cruiser shows up.  After the officer approached 
me, a guy came out of a house nearby and starts a diatribe 
about me "defacing city property", and telling the officer 
that he had "painted over" my "gang symbol".  

    After fully describing what we were doing to the officer, 
and explaining that it was mandated by federal regulations, 
I nearly got the guy from the house arrested.  I re-painted 
the mark while they both watched.
