There is no less expensive city for large conventions. I attend
other conventions, and there is one that I will attend in Las Vegas,
but I won't go to Orlando, as an example, because it costs MUCH
MORE! It even costs less to FLY from Washington, DC to Las Vegas
than to Orlando. Same for Atlanta.
I am a HUGE fan of Las Vegas. I would move there if I could get my
wife to go. No way she will. So, I am left with going out six or
eight times a year. Of course, I have a reason to go, I get training
at Front Sight, near Pahrump, but I leave many days in the schedule
for Las Vegas.
There is a LOT of good food for little money. One of my favorites is
Sushi On Tropicana. There is also Sushi on Rainbow, and (though they
have changed their name and I don't recall it) Sushi on Sahara. All
you can eat Sushi for $20 lunch, and $26 for dinner. UMMMM!
Then there is the Rio Seafood Buffet (at the south end of the
resort). It is WONDERFUL, with lobster tails and sushi on the
buffet, all for $36! The World Buffet at the north end REALLY
SUCKS! Don't go there!
I could go on and on as far as dining goes. I can even recommend
waitresses!
If you shop carefully, you can get a room at the Stratosphere for $25
a night, and even at Sahara, though they piss me off as they have
additional fees for the phone. I have delivered my phone to the
front desk as a protest, but that doesn't get that bullshit fee off
my bill. At one point, some hotels had an "energy fee" for the extra
cost of electricity. What crap is that?
Still, get a three star room in any other city for $25 a night!
You can even stay at the Meth Lab 6, and walk from the end of the
Monorail. UM, Motel 6.
