I had one that normally ran at 18.5 Kw out. I knew it was time to replace the
PA tube when it wouldn't do over 21 kW any more without a screen overload. 
The trick to keeping those rigs running well was to keep them clean, keep them
cool and neutralize the hell out of them.

Oh..and NEVER tune them for minumum AM noise-whatever you have is good
enough!

Are you really talking about an RCA BTF-20 FM transmitter doing 25 KW?  I
had always thought that the transmitter should be re-labelled the BTF-18.
You must be doing something incredibly right.
