Available at Barnes and Noble is Fedora 10 and
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Bible, Wiley publisher.
 ISBN 978-0-470-41339-5
It is a complete Linux "bible" explaining just about
everything --plus. It comes with a bootable DVD and CD.
It will install the "latest and greatest" on any modern
PC/AT that you might have lying around. It will give
both a newbie or a well-worn hacker, the opportunity to
see how a real computer runs. –and yes, it has a GUI,
which with a keystroke you can hide, and Firefox, the
correct web interface. It also has "Word" compatible
office software –everything you need, including C/C++
compilers if you want to start hacking. The cost is steep,
US$59.99, about 1/3 the cost of an M$ XP distribution disk
--plus you can install it everywhere, as many times as you want.

BTW, I didn't have anything to do with the distribution
so I am not trying to "sell" anything to make me some cash.

It's just that it's great.

Cheers,
Richard B. Johnson

I'm not so sure SuSE is necessarily "preferred" but it was the default
used by the sponsor in the early years.
