Why, I'm not sure, but try this....
In an explorer window ( windows explorer, not internet explorer,
even though they are the same explorer )
In the location bar...
type a double back slash followed by the name of one of the
computers on the network.
Hit enter.
Sometimes this will populate the network browse window, for
that "workgroup" anyway.
Sometimes it will force a "browser election" and repopulate
the entire network "neighborhood."
It isn't that you can't browse, it's that you can't get a browse list
from the "master browser" and without that, windows can't
browse anything on any network.
