You should see the cartoon-movie,  "Wall-e"! Not only is it a cute Pixar 
production, the story is very interesting. Observe how they portray Humanity 700 
years from now... aboard the ultimate luxury liner, out in space. Clever... and 
not unlike what you've said, here.
