For many years KKB-364 Dallas Police Department on 1714 kHz. (or cps.)
back then maintained the dispatcher only on the 1714 AM channel. They used alot
of their old 6 volt DC receivers for 1714 kHz. even into the early 1960's with
a slant wire operating into the WRR-AM Auxiliary tower that was next to the
WRR-FM tower at the South end of the Cotton Bowl.

>From the early 1930's DPD had [police car transmitters around 30 mHz. AM and
1714 receivers in the cars for two-way communications. After they moved to
45.66 mHz. FM in the early '50's the 1714 equipment was maintained and used
for a non-selective one way paging system to officers assigned to warrant
serving and other jobs not requiring 2-way communications.

The transmitter used was a Western Electric Model 303-C 1 kW. AM rig.
