Scott,
I was a fledgling DJ at the college station in Fredonia NY (WCVF)when JFK was shot. I did have a lot of contacts at the local Fredonia and Dunkirk stations as well as the Buffalo stations. I do not remember any FCC mandates nor do I remember any stations playing specifically JFK favorites, although some stations may have done so voluntarily. I listened mainly to WKBW Buffalo in those days, and while the event was treated with a great deal of respect I don't remember any particular change in their rock format not did any FCC mandates come down that I was aware of at any of the other stations in the area. It was the normal start of Thanksgiving break at the college so we were let out a little early, but otherwise I don't remember any other great changes other than respect for the event. Of course it has been 45 years.
