The key is never trusting a c-clamp by itself. When I was handling the 
lighting at my old station in San Francisco, I insisted that every 
fixture hung from the grid have *at least* one wire-cable safety cable 
attached--two if it was a heavier unit. And safeties attaching the barn 
doors or other accessories to the main body of the fixture.

I had no trouble getting whatever I needed approved for a purchase 
order. If life in general was only that simple...
