IIRC, that's now an OSHA requirement.  NTM the grid itself has to be 
double-secured unless it's structural.  Was big issue in the '80s when 
WTHR built new studio - the contractor couldn't understand why we wanted 
a 15-foot high drop ceiling in a warehouse.  We had all sorts of fun 
with that - along with the noisy A/C vents.  The grid wound up 
double-chained to the rafters, IIRC; the A/C needed to be a bit more 
creative (wound up with dampers about 10-15' from the outlet, and no 
diffuser - at least for a while.  That's been quite a while, so they may 
have something different in there by now.)
