You would be hard pressed to find any technical information in what I thought were technical information repositories: The local library.

There was a grand opening down the block of a new Library and I attended. I couldn't find one technical book on electronics or ham radio. In the past I used to find great libraries of music, say piano music and such, nothing like that was to be found. But shelves and shelves of romance novels and fiction were to be had.

I had a huge collection of recent edition French books, not necessarily written in french but for learning french that my daughter spent a fortune (of mine) in accumulating over the past few years. I contacted the public library pres de chez moi, and asked if they would be interested in me donating them this huge collection (probably 150 books all basically new or close to it) and I was met with the glassy eyed stare and "I can't imagine what we would want them for?"

I took em to the salvation army and left them there. Amazing. I bet if I had a car load of fictional books they'd be all about it.

This is one reason it pays to go to Library book sales, they are always selling off all the knowledge books so you can find books on chemistry, electronics, etc at give away prices. I have a huge collection of books gotten this way.
