Boy Id like that job... I won DFing awards in both manual and
Doppler (4 antenna type) on my suburban... What a blast.... I
know its best to learn on manual antenna systems, but it sure
was a blast following the rotating l.e.d.'s to the transmiter a good
5 to 10 minutes before everyone else and the getting to show
of my home brew Doppler DFer... would work on any frequency
as long as the reciever had a earphone/external speaker out jack
and had the right lenth of antennas on top... didnt work real well below
6 meters.... but above, my average hunt time was under 15 minutes, most
of the time below 10... got the design right off the net... the most (KEY!!!)
thing is to make sure your antennas are EXACTLY THE SAME LENGTH
and EXACTLY IN A PERFECT SQUARE AT A EXACT SPACING!! dont
remember the distance, think you used the antennas layed down to
where they just would touch is where you would drill (YES I SAID DRILL!!)
the 4 holes besides the 2 other holes for my 2m/440 and 6m xcevers
which you could not talk on while the doppler was on, it would damage
it!... Sorry I sold it... If I were to build another I would have to build a grond plane
to put under the antennas as my handycapper lift van has a fiberglass roof
and NON-GP antenna do not work real well....
Enought rambleng.. If you all want to talk more about the toppic, I would be happy
to share the information on the doppler unit... and carry on the topic....
