Some might wonder why they didn't check the output before setting off
a tempest in a teapot.

On the other hand, it is just possible there was no mistake and they
used the programming they apply to NEW applications to check protection
without considering the consequences. That is a possibility that might
happen when there is no way to check against the old auths. because they
lost them years ago, or so I heard. But then, I guess I've become more
cynical as I've aged. <g>
