I think the Nautel J-1000 is probably the easiest to do a field 
frequency change on. You are supposed to be able to shift it from one 
end of the band to the other in about 1 hour. (perhaps even less if done 
on the bench).  The problem with a frequency agile AM transmitter is 
that the output network has to match the finals to the load from 540 
KHz, to 1710 kHz. That's a range of about 2 octaves. That would be the 
similar to moving an 88.1 MHz FM transmitter up to 278 MHz. Thus you can 
see it's quite a jump.
