Remodeling was all done last spring, so this Starguide has been sitting quite happily in its new home since then.
My thought was the fan, but once I had it out where I could watch it, it started right up with nary a rattle. Since it runs off the 5V supply, it's possible the supply "glitched" and didn't come back up right.
It's also possible that whatever mechanism the receiver uses to stay tuned is going south. Hence the receiver being "off frequency" The Starguide manual is sooo informative on how this box works.
Luckily I have a spare sound cards installed in the other Starguide. This weekend I am setting it up so the other receiver can be used to feed the relay closures to the computer. Since it's in another studio I am going to use a pair of touch-tone encoder/decoders to ferry the relay closures between studios. Already have audio from this second receiver's cards wired into the main studio.
That way I will be prepared for when this Starguide has a permanent failure.
