The HD Translator. Again a New York product. We build and test. FYI .. we
opted not to ship the original version. The all digital version is about
finished and we should have it in Beta late this month. We'll have at least
one unit at NAB.
I'd be curious to know about the HD translator - yours or anyone else's.
With the HD signal 20 db down, and maximum ERP for a translator at 250 watts, I
can't see that being very useful. Perhaps I'm wrong. 2.5 watts, even
digital, doe not seem to me like it would be able to penetrate buildings very
well. Further a lot of translators are WAY less than 250 watts. I have a lot of
personal experience with a 45 watt translator that does a decent job
covering a small city. What could I expect in HD?
I don't mean to be negative, but I'd really like to know what future HD has
at low power levels.
Thanks,
Chuck Conrad
