Paul's example illustrates the concept that people will be paid what the
market can afford.

I imagine nobody grows up with the lifelong dream of working at, managing,
or even owning, a taco restaurant. I'm not picking on Paul's prior
statement.

All of us (well, okay. Most of us) dreamed of one day being on the radio.
Sometimes fulfilling ones dream is more important than the money earned at
the end of the day.

I also imagine that if ones broadcasting career consists of jumping from
low paying job to low paying job, that broadcaster won't gain the respect
of their peers.

I have worked part time in radio for over ten years now? Why? I already
have a nice full-time job, outside of radio, that pays the bills. I have
used my "where I work in Radio 'street cred'" precisely two times: Once,
in meeting a famous radio person, and the second time, in dining with
another famous radio person.

I consider myself fairly fortunate to be "only part time in radio," yet
also having had those two amazing experiences. Both experiences were
indeed, monetarily priceless.
