[BC] Humming Preamps

I had this once at a Beautiful Music station. We called the studio "The
Hanging Transformers of Babylon" because we had to isolate everything with
audio transformers. Short version of long story: The block heater on the
studio generator used a light dimmer to produce 48 VAC. Replacing the
dimmer with a Stancor power transformer made the hum/buzz disappear. Check
the quality (harmonics, spikes, etc.) of the AC power.
