A.Prose Walker, wow what an interesting person. Mr. Walker, Mr.
Weldon and Mr. Silliman sat down with their preferred adult beverages
back many years ago in the Continental suite at the NAB they started
about 10 Pm and it went to about 1 AM. The room floor was covered
with attentive radio station engineers. What a wealth of knowledge
and great experiences. It could have gone for many hours because one
questions would stir the memories of these men of our industry.
Mr. Walker was a Consultant to Collins in 1961 for the implementation
of FM Stereo in addition to many other areas of Collins such as
Satellite communication and many military and government projects.
My first year at Collins at the 1978 NAB convention, we actually
had a stereo FM signal on Collins systems being broadcast from
Dallas, TX to the NAB floor. This was after Collins built and
installed the first four channel video network for PBS some years earlier.
Regards,
David
