" Not sure if they are still carried, but I've used a Radio Shack 15-1853
tuneable loop for a few years. Even use it with my Boatanchor Hammarlund
for AM DX. Great antenna. It rivals the internal loops of the GE
Superadio and Sony 2010.

I will chime in on my favorite loop antenna(s). Years ago, I bought a
Palomar ferrite loop antenna for 160 meters along with the companion
amplifier. I found it to be extremely useful for DXing. The loop plugs
into the LA-1 loop amplifier. Later, I bought the broadcast band loop. It
rotates and tilts. By using both azimuth and tilt, I can null any of the
local AMs so deeply, that I can copy co-channel stations elsewhere in the
country, at night.

The ferrite loops are wound with Litz wire and are balanced. They all
rotate and tilt. The amplifier uses two FETs, followed with a bipolar
output. It runs on a 9 V battery.

Later, I built a rather large open frame loop antenna that was capable of
tilting. It consists of several turns of RG-174 miniature coax with the
shield split in the middle. With this plugged into the loop amp, the
performance is nothing short of stellar.

The Palomar stuff isn't cheap, but it kicks you know what. If you've seen
one, it wouldn't be any great challenge to homebrew one.
