If you take a job that required on-the-job training, your employer is
required by law to pay you for those hours. I'm not sure why so many people
feel broadcasting should be an exception to this.

I just call it like I see it.
If pure greed is your only motivation, then I take no exception to anything

I don't think comfortable, abit slightly lavish, living is unreasonable or
greedy at all. And you can't argue that with limited exception, a few of
which I've capitalized on, there don't exists many opportunities in
broadcasting to make that possible. If you are willing to live a simply
life to do what you love, more power to you. Some also would like to strike
a balance between enjoying what they do at work and also being able to
afford some of the finer things in life.
If, however, wisdom comes with years passing, things may change.

There is no reason one cant have a good name and hefty bank account, neither
is mutually exclusive to the other.
