WADR was using that until at least the late 1970's.  In 1975 I removed 
another RCA-5DX transmitter from WPRO-630 in Providence.  I sold some of the 
parts to WADR some time after that.  Still have a part or two from the WPRO 
transmitter around somewhere.

But nothing from the early days of FM, unfortunately.  The only early memory 
I have of older FM was in 1971.  I worked for WAAF back then.  Some dumb kid 
put a bomb loaded with nails on their transmitter.  Blew up and did damage 
enough to shut it down.  I got called in around 11pm for that.  Some years 
later the kid bragged about doing it and got caught.  Wish I'd taken some 
pictures of that...
