If you are planning to get or use an iPod, you need to know that Apple's official position is that it does not have a battery. Instead, it contains a non-replaceable "green energy storage device..." their words.

Furthermore, the warranty is 12 months during which the iPod may be replaced if it fails to retain a charge. After that, you are out of luck because they do not sell or replace these "green energy storage devices."

One friend has a thirteen month old iPod which will retain a charge for only about 15 minutes. Ne needs to throw it away. NotGood(TM) I tried to contact an Apple service center for him and they wanted to charge me $25.00. I am currently composing a letter to Jobs which will be on an attorney's letterhead. I will keep "the list" informed of the outcome.

Cheers,
